Support — Chess Board Tools
Report a problem on GitHub Issues. Include extension version, browser version, operating system, feature, expected behavior, and reproduction steps on a disposable analysis board. Do not post personal account data or private game links.
Safe test board
Use Chess.com analysis and a disposable position. Do not test in an active human game. Enable Keyboard board control in the popup; type Latin b, 2, then b, 3. Keyboard actions pause in focused inputs and interactive controls.
Installation and permissions
Chrome: allow the extension on Chess.com and reload open tabs after installation. For an existing temporary Safari installation, enable Chess Board Tools in Safari Settings → Extensions, allow access to Chess.com, and reopen the test tab after reloading the extension. No macOS App Store edition is published.
Common questions
- Confirmation requires a visible enabled Chess.com button. Cancellation uses the Cancel button or clears all queued premoves on the active game board, even during the opponent’s turn and with keyboard board control disabled.
- Turn ticks offer Auto, Increment and fixed 2–30-second intervals, with volume from 0–100%. Auto needs a known initial time; 0% mutes sound. Ticks are silent in analysis, puzzles and hidden tabs. In a disposable bot game, enable the option and interact once to unlock audio.
- Piece Vision Overlay starts disabled. It supports standard bots, analysis, completed reviews, ongoing Daily analysis and Rated/Daily/Learning puzzles. Active human play, Rush/Battle, variants and unsupported/incomplete states disable it. Squares unseen by both sides have darker fog with diagonal stripes.
- Shortcut keys use Chrome Sync when enabled. Fog and board helper settings stay local. Safari does not synchronize extension settings.
- After updating an unpacked extension, reload it and reopen the Chess.com tab. Temporary Safari extension reloads can require a fresh tab.
